Jim Griffioen received a B.A. degree in computer science from Calvin College in 1985. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees (computer science) in 1988 and 1991, respectively, from Purdue University working with Doug Comer. He is currently a full professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Kentucky. His research interests include network protocols, distributed operating systems, and multimedia systems. In 1999, he spent his sabbatical at AT&T Research Labs working with the IPTV group on the problem of distributing TV over IP-based networks.
