Ephemeral state processing (ESP) is a router based building block, which is designed to have IP like characteristics. ESP allows packets to create and manipulate small amounts of temporary state at routers via short, predefined computations.

We have implemented ESP in Linux, Intel IXP1200, and even in Click Modular Router. You can download them from here!

We also implemented a ESP socket kernel module in linux. With this, you can send ESP packets almost the same as you sent UDP packets. Download it now!
