CS 100 Fall 2012 Homework 4

Evaluate Your Team Members

This is Part 2 of the "Working in Teams" assignment. As you know, part of everyone's grade on Homework 3 is based on the quality of their team's presentation. For this part of the team assignment, each of you will describe and evaluate the contribution of each member of your team to the project.

Specifically, you must fill out the Teammate Evaluation Form spreadsheet and upload it (as Homework 4) via the CS Portal. (Note: you will need Microsoft Excel or another program that can read and write .xlsx files. If you don't have Excel, you access it in any lab on campus, or get access using your LinkBlue ID via the myVirtualDEN virtual desktop. No other format will be accepted!)

  1. In the first column, write in the first and last name of each member of your team, including yourself.
  2. In the second column, assign to each member, including yourself a score from 0 to 5, according to the following scale:
  3. In the third column, write the person's role in the project (convener, researcher, writer, editor).
  4. In the fourth column, you can write any (brief) comment you may have on the person's participation, e.g., "took over and wouldn't let anyone else do anything".
You must assign an integer score; a score of "2.5" will be treated as -1.

Your grade on this assignment will be determined 50% by your assessment of others, and 50% by their assessment of you. Total points possible is 10 = 5 for your assessment plus 5 for others' assessment of your contribution to the team presentation.

For example, if you do a good and reasonable assessment of your teammates, and they give you an average score of 4, you'll get 9/10. On the other hand, if you don't know what many of your teammates' roles were, and they give you an average score of 2, you'll get 2 or 3 out of 10.

Upload your completed Teammate Evaluation Spreadsheet as "Homework 4" via the CS Submission Portal by 5:30pm EST Tuesday, 11 December (end of the CS 100 final exam period).
