Active Networks Architecture Documents

This page links to the latest versions (that I know of) of the architecture documents being developed in the DARPA Active Nets Program. Some of the versions on the DARPA page are out-of-date, but I will try to keep this page up to date.

Architectural Framework for Active Networks (Version 1.0 July 1999 is current). Discussion of this document takes place on the ActiveNets_Wire mailing list. The editor of this document is Ken Calvert.
NodeOS Interface Specification ( Version of January 2001 is current). Discussion takes place on the ActiveNets_NodeOS mailing list. The editor is Larry Peterson.
Composable Services for Active Networks, Ellen Zegura, editor. Discussion of this document takes place on the ActiveNets_Services mailing list. This document may be rolled into the architectural framework document.
Security Architecture for Active Networks (latest version is November 2001). Discussion on ActiveNets_Security mailing list. Sandy Murphy is the author.

Note that much (most) of the discussion tends to happen on ActiveNets_Wire regardless of the topic.
